Buy Blocker is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Data We Collect
Local Data (Stored on Your Device Only)
Buy Blocker stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:
- Saved Items: Product URLs and timestamps when you click "Save for Later"
- Trash Items: Items you've moved to trash
- Whitelist: Websites where you've disabled the popup blocker
- Extension Settings: Your preferences for how the extension works
This data never leaves your device. We cannot see it, access it, or collect it.
Website Content
To detect shopping cart buttons, Buy Blocker reads:
- Button text on web pages (to identify "Add to Cart", "Buy Now", etc.)
- Current page URL (to save product links and check your whitelist)
This information is processed locally and is not transmitted to our servers.
Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, address)
- Browsing history
- Payment information
- Passwords or login credentials
- Location data
- Cookie data from websites you visit
Future Analytics (Optional)
In future versions, we may add optional, anonymous analytics to improve the extension. If we do:
- You will be asked to opt-in
- Data will be completely anonymous (no personal identification)
- We will only collect: number of popup appearances and user interactions (Save / Trash / Continue)
- You can opt-out at any time in settings
We will update this policy before implementing any analytics features.
How We Use Data
All data is used solely to provide Buy Blocker's core functionality:
- Showing you confirmation popups before purchases
- Remembering your saved items
- Respecting your whitelisted websites
- Saving your extension preferences
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to third parties. Period.
Data Storage and Security
- All data is stored locally using Chrome's secure storage API
- Data remains on your device until you remove it or uninstall the extension
- We have no servers collecting your information
Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- View: See your saved items, trash, and whitelist in the extension
- Delete: Clear individual items or all data from settings
- Uninstall: Removing the extension deletes all stored data
Children's Privacy
Buy Blocker does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when adding new features. Changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated through the extension update notes.
